Nowadays you wouldn't use a K5000 for piano sounds, since there are many better and cheaper alternatives for that.
I agree with you, I just demonstrated the piano sounds of this synth...

Do you find your internal speakers to be very quiet and a bit distorted at full volume? I initially thought that my Reface had defective internal speakers so I actually got it replaced by Yamaha under warranty. But my new one has the same issue! Do these speakers just stink?
Maybe it distorts a little, but nothing annoying for me... The speakers seem quite good for practicing and songwriting. If you want a better result connect it to external ones...
